I was hit pretty badly by Google and haven't recovered since. I have mixed reaction over their recent action.

Anyway, after reading your article, I think it has provided me more insight on this matter :) Cheers!

My site also got PR 0 because I use PPP. But after reading your post 2 weeks ago, I have bought 3 domains with existing PR and have made USD 400 in profits in just 1 week by selling blog posts, links etc.

But I'm quite reluctant to put the PPP script because google can detect scripts right?

I think this is an excellent post. I saw the thread on PPP and was surprised that so many were resistant to some of the suggestions you made?

I had one website that lost rank. It's down to a 0. The funny thing is I did only one review on their. I completely forgot I had done it until I saw the drop in PR. The only thing I believe could have gotten me was the disclosure or PPP tracking. The review went well with my existing content.

You have to make that call Evelyn.

I would personally still create a second and or third blog. Would I abandon the old one, not necessarily I have not abandoned this one. The reality though is for now Yahoo and MSN combined are tiny compared to Google in ability to drive traffic.

Also you new blog will get indexed by all in time. Get some good links, provide good content and all will take care of itself.

Sure, we cannot ignore Google PR. But what happens if our blog has already been indexed by yahoo and msn? Is it still better to change to a new domain?

Sorry I did not get back to everyone for a few days, here is a reply to everyone I appreciate every comment and try to respond to most of them.

Matt, Thanks for the kind words. And yea Big G is getting pretty damn heavy handed with their power.

Dexter, Does not look like there is that much interest in a course but I may do some free vids on at least how to do nofollow, put your policy in images, etc. Check back or opt in to be sure you get notified of posts.

jennyr, I don't know if Google will ban blogger users but I would get off of blogger all together. Web hosting is cheap and WordPress is much more powerful anyway and free. Get a Linux host with Fantistico and you can install WP with a few click. This blog is on WordPress and using one of thousands of free themes. It takes a bit of effort to lean some basic tech skills and FTP etc but once you do you have so many more options, etc.

Beagle, yea I just wanted people to have the information and be able to defend themselves if they choose to. I documented it and I am sure there are some more steps to take. I am not sure all of them were really known, I have never seen anyone put a disclosure policy in an image for instance until after the PageRank Spank.

ThatBlogger, the only reason I bothered to respond to all that resistance is because the others were saying things that are just false. As they are well known there I did not want false statements to stand unchallenged and be read by newer bloggers and just taken as fact. If I help one or two it was worth the effort.

This is an excellent article, Jack. You should pay no attention at all to people arguing with you on the PPP forum. In fact, you shouldn't waste one second of your time on them. If I were you, I would stop replying in the thread.

They are fools who will watch their income evaporate while they spout high-falutin, nonsensical opinions based solely on their own ignorance. They refuse to learn from those who know more than they do.

If you ever read some of the blogs that advertisers are paying good money to appear on, you would scream. These people can't write their way out of a third grade English book. Their uninformed opinions are worthless.

Let them suffer, leaving more paying opportunities available to those of us who know better.

I found your post through the forum. I'm sorry to see there are few people who give you credit for this thoughtful piece. well, at least it's just a few ones who are vocal in the forum anyway. I for one is grateful to learn about this.

Some people might say these precautions recommended by you are nothing new. But the fact is, not many people would sit down and take the time to write and share. I appreciate what you're doing and I'm already following some of your steps.

I won't buy a PR domain though... Thanks for everything. :-)

wow! this is so informative! I am glad I found your blog. BUT I just bookmarked this for now since it's a lot to take in one day,LoL! I did one step right basing on your entry, hehehe! I was hit by google with a PR 3 on both bravejournal and blogspot and now down to ZERO. So, that pushed me to buy a domain and start all over again although I didn't leave bravejournal and blogspot behind. I just switched blogspot into custom domain but thing is, I've heard, since it's still owned by Google, they will soon ban those who blog for money, is this true? I am not sure if I can still save my blogspot since it is so loaded with PPP and I think it will always be PR0 same goes for my bravejournal. BUt with my new domain, I will try to follow your advice to protect my blog. Thank you once again for sharing your great knowledge!!!

Great read...It doesn't sound like your bitter to me but I can see how many small time bloggers are getting screwed out of their money. lol to never use words like "paid blogging" or things like that; it makes sense and I like the idea of also protecting your identity through secure means. G is getting very big and their rules might not help the internet grow as fast as it should
